Ingredients
- 4 large turkey wings
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups chicken stock
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 bay leaves
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Turkey Wings
– Mix salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
– Season the wings thoroughly with the mixture.
– Let the wings marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Step 2: Brown the Turkey Wings
– Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
– Lightly dredge the wings in flour and shake off excess.
– Sear the wings for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
– In the same skillet, melt butter.
– Sauté the onions and bell peppers for 5-6 minutes until softened.
– Stir in 2 tablespoons of the flour used for dredging to create a roux.
– Gradually whisk in chicken stock and bring the gravy to a gentle boil. Add thyme and bay leaves.
Step 4: Bake the Turkey Wings
– Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Arrange the browned wings in a baking dish and pour the gravy over them.
– Cover with foil and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until the turkey wings are tender.
Notes
– Marinate the wings for better flavor absorption.
– Adjust the gravy consistency by adding more chicken stock if it is too thick or cooking uncovered to thicken it more.
– For added richness, slow-cook the wings in a slow cooker for 6-7 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high.
