Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until halfway combined. Stir in the chocolate chips gently.
- Let the waffle batter rest for 5-10 minutes while preheating the waffle iron.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron and pour about ½ cup of batter. Cook until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve warm with whipped cream, syrup, or extra chocolate chips.
Notes
- Use mini chocolate chips for better distribution throughout the batter.
- Stir the wet and dry ingredients gently to avoid overmixing (lumps are okay).
- Keep waffles warm in a 200°F oven while making multiple batches.
